Things to Do in Monaco in Spring: The Complete 2026 Guide

From the Historic Grand Prix circuit to the flowering terraces of the Rock: Monaco reveals in spring a gentleness and vibrancy that few destinations can match.

Monaco in Spring: A Season Like No Other

What to do in Monaco in spring? The question deserves far more than an ordinary answer. As the French Riviera awakens under the first rays of March, the Principality enters its most vibrant season. Terraces come alive, gardens burst with colour, and an events calendar fills with world-class appointments found nowhere else on earth.

Spring in Monaco is the promise of ideal weather, far from the summer crowds, with bright days and mild evenings by the harbour. It is also the time when the streets of Monte-Carlo come back to life, driven by cultural, sporting and gastronomic events that have earned the Principality its worldwide reputation.

Why Is Spring the Best Time to Visit Monaco?

With temperatures ranging between 15°C and 22°C from March to May, spring offers exceptional comfort for exploring Monaco on foot. The summer crowds have not yet arrived, queues are short, and even locals make the most of their public spaces. It is the perfect moment to stroll along the quays of Port Hercule, climb effortlessly up to the Rock, or linger on a terrace with views over the Mediterranean.

For guests staying at Port Palace Monaco, spring brings an additional advantage: every room looks directly onto the harbour, and the morning light of this season transforms the panorama into a living painting. Our guests often tell us that this is the time of year when they experience their most beautiful moments in Monaco.

The Weather in Monaco in Spring

March sees temperatures climb gradually to 16-18°C during the day. April settles comfortably around 18-20°C, while May already brings the first summer-like days at 22-24°C. Rain is rare - a few quick showers in March, then a sky often pastel blue in April and May. A light jacket is all you need in the evenings until the end of April.

The Must-See Events of Spring 2026 in Monaco

The Monaco Historic Grand Prix (24-26 April 2026)

This is the most eagerly awaited event of the spring. For its 15th edition, the Monaco Historic Grand Prix brings together 205 period single-seaters on the Principality's legendary circuit. From Bugatti Type 35s to Tyrrell-Fords of the 1970s and Ferrari 312/Ts, the history of motorsport unfolds just metres from the terraces of Port Hercule.

The great novelty of 2026: turbocharged Formula 1 cars enter the competition for the very first time. A historic milestone that also marks the centenary of several iconic manufacturers. Free practice begins on Friday 24 April, qualifying on Saturday, and eight races follow on Sunday 26 April, with the final scheduled at 5pm.

For motorsport enthusiasts staying at Port Palace, the experience is unique: the hotel sits directly on the circuit, at the heart of Port Hercule. From our rooms and suites overlooking the harbour, you will hear the engines roar and watch the cars pass your window. A spectacle no grandstand can rival.

Concierge tip

"For the Historic Grand Prix, book now. Rooms with a direct harbour view are the first to go. And remember: the circuit is accessible on foot on open days, allowing you to get close to the cars in an atmosphere far more intimate than the F1 Grand Prix."

Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo (11 March - 19 April)

Every year, the Printemps des Arts transforms Monaco into a capital of classical and contemporary music. The 2026 edition, themed around utopia, offers an ambitious programme blending concerts, world premieres and encounters with international artists. The Opéra Garnier de Monte-Carlo, the Reformed Church and several unique venues across the Principality host these events, often at very accessible prices.

For music lovers, it is the perfect opportunity to combine refined culture with a stay in an exceptional setting. Our concierge team, available to all resident guests, can help you secure tickets and plan your evenings.

Les Sérénissimes de l'Humour at the Grimaldi Forum (10-14 March)

A stand-up comedy festival that gathers the great voices of French-speaking humour each year. The 2026 edition welcomes Dany Boon, Nawell Madani and Issa Doumbia on the Grimaldi Forum stage. A wonderful way to open the Monegasque spring in lightness and good spirits, just steps from the harbour.

AMWC: World Showcase for Aesthetic Medicine (26-28 March)

The Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress draws several thousand healthcare professionals from around the world to Monaco each year. If you are travelling for business during this event, Port Palace is ideally located: a 10-minute walk from the Grimaldi Forum, with bespoke services designed for business travellers.

Visiting Monaco: The Spring Essentials

Beyond the events, Monaco holds sites well worth discovering this season, when the light is soft and the tourists are still few.

The Rock of Monaco and the Prince's Palace

The Rock has dominated the Principality for 2,000 years of history. It is reachable on foot from Port Palace in about twenty minutes via the staircases and cobbled streets of the Condamine quarter. At the top, the Prince's Palace opens its doors to visitors from April to October (State Apartments tour, from 10am). The Changing of the Guard, every day at 11:55am, is a solemn and photogenic moment our guests never miss.

Old Monaco, with its flower-lined lanes, art galleries and cathedral, offers a two to three-hour walk through an authentic atmosphere far removed from casino glamour.

The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco

Perched on the cliff of the Rock 85 metres above the sea, the Oceanographic Museum is one of the most respected marine scientific institutions in the world. Founded by Prince Albert I in 1910, it houses an exceptional aquarium, a collection of rare specimens and exhibitions on ocean preservation. Allow 2 to 3 hours to enjoy it fully. Adult entry from 18 euros. Open daily from 10am.

The Exotic Garden and Its View over the Principality

Clinging to the cliff on the western edge of Monaco, the Exotic Garden is a collection of over 1,000 species of cacti and succulents from around the world. In spring, the blooms explode and the panorama over the Principality, the rooftops of Monte-Carlo and the Mediterranean is breathtaking. A visit that appeals equally to botanists and photographers. Entry includes a tour of the prehistoric Observatory Cave, one of the finest in the region.

The Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Golden Square

Even if you do not gamble, the Casino de Monte-Carlo is an architectural masterpiece of Belle Époque style by Charles Garnier, well worth visiting as a museum. The Casino Square, framed by the Hôtel de Paris, Café de Paris and luxury boutiques, forms the most iconic scene in Monte-Carlo. In spring, terraces fill from mid-afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere. Make a point of strolling there in the evening: the lighting is magical.

Gastronomy: Where to Eat in Monaco in Spring?

Monaco ranks among Europe's most gourmet destinations, with a remarkable density of Michelin-starred restaurants for such a small territory. Spring is the ideal season to make the most of it: terraces reopen, menus lighten, and local produce returns in force.

Restaurants with Sea-View Terraces

For lunch or dinner facing the harbour, La Môme Monaco restaurant on the 6th floor of Port Palace stands out as one of the finest addresses in the Principality. Under the direction of chef Benjamin Zannier, Mediterranean cuisine finds an elegant and generous expression, served on a rooftop with panoramic views over Port Hercule and the moored yachts. In spring, the outdoor terrace is particularly sought after: book ahead.

Nearby, the harbour quays also offer several quality brasseries for a relaxed lunch on a terrace with a marine atmosphere.

The Condamine Market: Monaco's Gourmet Soul

Every weekday morning (except Monday), the Condamine Market brings together local producers on the Place d'Armes. Seasonal fruit and vegetables, cheeses, flowers, charcuterie and Niçoise specialities - this is where the authentic heart of Monaco beats, far from the glitz. Our concierge recommends stopping by around 9am to see the market at its most lively.

Getting Around and Organising Your Stay

How to Reach Monaco from Nice or Cannes?

The simplest connection from Nice is the TER regional train linking Nice-Ville to Monaco-Monte-Carlo in 20 minutes (departures roughly every 30 minutes, fare around 5 euros). From Cannes, allow about 1h15 by train. By car, Monaco is 20km from Nice via the A8 motorway, but parking is limited and expensive in the Principality. For those in a hurry, the Monte-Carlo Héli Air helicopter links Nice airport to Monaco in 7 minutes.

From Port Palace, Monaco's main bus lines and the Monte-Carlo Funicular station are a few minutes' walk away. Our team can arrange your transfer from the airport or station on arrival.

How Many Days Should You Allow to Visit Monaco?

Two days are enough to see the essentials: the Rock, the Oceanographic Museum, the Exotic Garden, the Casino, the harbour and the districts of Fontvieille and La Condamine. Three days offer the luxury of slowing down, lingering at the market, enjoying the gastronomy and taking a day trip to Èze or Cap d'Ail. For the April Historic Grand Prix, plan a minimum of 3 nights to make the most of the full programme.
