What to Do in Monaco in June: the Complete Guide to Activities and Events

June is Monaco's highlight month: the F1 Grand Prix takes place in June for the first time, the Fete de la Musique fills the streets, and the Mediterranean opens up for swimming. Discover our complete guide to activities.

Why visit Monaco in June?

June marks a turning point in Monaco's calendar. Temperatures climb to around 25 degrees, the Mediterranean finally becomes pleasant for swimming, and the Principality pulses with its most anticipated event: the Formula 1 Grand Prix, now held in June. Knowing what to do in Monaco in June means discovering the best time of year to enjoy the destination in all its facets: motorsport, culture, beaches, gastronomy and Mediterranean art de vivre.

Unlike July and August, June offers an ideal balance between excitement and serenity. The tourist season is in full swing without the summer overcrowding, hotel rates remain more affordable (outside the Grand Prix weekend), and the early summer light enhances every terrace, every alley and every panorama of the Cote d'Azur.

The Monaco Grand Prix: June's flagship event in 2026

Starting in 2026, the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix takes place in June instead of May. This new date places the race at the heart of early summer, with often perfect weather conditions and an even more festive atmosphere around the port.

2026 Grand Prix dates and schedule

The 83rd Monaco Grand Prix runs from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 June 2026. Free practice sessions open proceedings on Friday 5 June, followed by qualifying on Saturday 6 and the race on Sunday 7 at 3pm. Four categories race on the 3.337 km circuit: Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup.

Where to watch the Grand Prix without a ticket?

Grandstand tickets range from 175 EUR on Friday to over 1,000 EUR for Sunday in Premium stands. But alternatives exist. Several bars and restaurants around the port broadcast the race on large screens. The hillside of the Rock, above the Swimming Pool chicane, offers a free vantage point over part of the track. And the terraces of Port Hercule hotels are among the most privileged seats for the race.

Concierge's Tip

Our guests staying at Port Palace during the Grand Prix enjoy a direct view of the circuit from their rooms. For grandstands, the seats at the Sainte-Devote corner offer one of the best spectacles: late braking, overtakes and an electric atmosphere. Book your tickets at least 3 months in advance on monaco-grandprix.com - the best grandstands sell out fast.

The Grand Prix atmosphere: far beyond the race

During Grand Prix week, Monaco transforms. Yachts fill Port Hercule, parties multiply, and every restaurant in the Principality is fully booked. It's a spectacle in itself: even without grandstand tickets, the energy radiating through the city is worth the trip. The bars and rooftops around the port stay lively well into the night.

Events and outings not to miss in June in Monaco

The Grand Prix doesn't sum up June in Monaco. The Principality offers a packed cultural calendar, spanning music, art and gastronomy.

Fete de la Musique (21 June)

Every year, 21 June is a day of celebration in Monaco's streets. The Fete de la Musique fills several neighbourhoods with free open-air concerts. In 2026, two time slots are planned: 10am to noon and 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Local and guest bands perform around the port, in the gardens and on public squares. It's the perfect occasion to discover Monaco in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

Concerts and shows at the Grimaldi Forum

The Grimaldi Forum, Monaco's main cultural venue, hosts concerts, exhibitions and shows throughout June. The Opera Garnier de Monte-Carlo also welcomes the Academie Princesse Grace on 19 and 20 June 2026, an event that draws dance and opera enthusiasts. For up-to-date schedules, check the official Visit Monaco calendar.

Art exhibitions and galleries

Following the success of Monaco Art Week in late April, several galleries extend their exhibitions into June. The Principality has around ten contemporary and classical art galleries, concentrated between the Carre d'Or and Boulevard des Moulins. The Nouveau Musee National de Monaco (NMNM) typically features leading exhibitions at its two venues: Villa Paloma and Villa Sauber.

☉ Good to know

During Grand Prix week (4-7 June), some tourist sites in Monaco change their opening hours or close temporarily due to traffic restrictions. The Prince's Palace typically closes its doors to visitors during the race weekend. Check schedules on visitmonaco.com before your visit.

Beaches in and around Monaco

Larvotto Beach, Monaco's only public beach, offers free access with calm, supervised waters. It's a 15-minute walk from Port Hercule. In June, crowds remain manageable compared to July and August.

For more options, the beaches of neighbouring towns are well worth the trip: Roquebrune-Cap-Martin to the east, Eze-Bord-de-Mer and Villefranche-sur-Mer to the west. Our complete guide to Monaco's beaches and surroundings details each option with distances and facilities.

Sea excursions and water sports

Monaco's harbour is the starting point for numerous maritime excursions. Boat hire with or without a skipper, diving trips, jet-skiing, paddleboarding: the range is broad and suitable for all levels. For a unique experience, the Pelagos sanctuary excursion lets you observe dolphins in their natural habitat. Port Palace guests receive a 10% discount on this trip.

For a full day at sea, yacht charter from Monaco remains the most exclusive experience on the Cote d'Azur.

June is the month when Monaco's restaurants throw open their terraces. Dining al fresco facing the sea, beneath a sky that doesn't darken until after 9pm: that's the privilege of early summer on the Mediterranean.
