What to do in Monte Carlo?

Main attractions:

  • The historic town and the Palais Princier : on the famous “Rocher”, you can find a local village, with little streets, charming shops and restaurants. There, you find also the Cathedral and the Palais, where the Changing of the Guard takes place every day at 11.55 A.M. during particular periods of the year, the Palais can be visited.

  • Oceanographic Museum : one of the most important “sea temples” in Europe, with temporary exhibitions and special events organised regularly. Open everyday of the year.

  • The Exotic Garden : a true Eden with a huge variety of exotic plants, an amazing panoramic view on the Principality and on the Riviera, the fantastic observatory caves and a museum of prehistoric anthropology. Open all the days of the year, excluded November 19th and December 25th.

  • The Casino, its square and its gardens : the “Place du Casino” in Monte Carlo is surely one of the most famous addresses in the world. Across the years, it has become a true legend. During the whole year, it is a gathering of lights, stars and events.

  • In Monaco you will find also many other attractions, such as the National Museum, the Stamps and Coins Museum, the Monte Carlo Story Museum, the Open Air Cinema (during summer), the Opera Theatre, the Ballets, the Churches of Sainte Devote and Saint Charles.

    In the nearby:

  • Eze Village : Eze is one of the most charming village on the French Riviera: located on a hill top, it conserves a medieval urban structure and it offers a breaking view on the local coasts and the Cap Ferrat.

  • St Jean Cap Ferrat : St Jean Cap Ferrat is a typical fishermen’s village, set on an exclusive peninsula; on the peninsula you will find also the Villa Ephrussy de Rotschild, a sumptuous palace, adorned with priceless works of art and surrounded by seven different kinds of gardens. The villa is open all the year round.

  • Beaulieu Sur Mer : Beaulieu is a nice seaside resort where you will find the Villa Kerilos, a true museum that allows you to enter the world of a ship owner in the second century by J.C. The villa is open all the year round.

    Where to buy something special:

  • In Monte Carlo you can find a big variety of shops, from luxury world known boutiques to local products shops; the most famous areas are in the nearby of the “Place du Casino” and in the Shopping Gallery “Metropole”. If you wish to buy something different we can suggest you to visit Fragonard, a local producer of house made parfums. In their shop, which is set in Eze Village, you will find not only special soaps, creams or beauty products but also a veritable museum of perfumes ’production.

    Dedicated to our VIK´s, very important kids:

  • Le Jardin Animalier : an interesting collection of 250 animals that live in this well kept garden, overlooking the harbour of Fontvieille; open all the year round.

  • The little train “Azur Express” : discover the Principality of Monaco from a particular point of view: every day of the year, departing from the Oceanographic Museum, you can admire the old town, the harbour and the Place du Casino with explications in English, French or Italian.

  • Zoo Park, St Jean Cap Ferrat : set on the Peninsula of St Jean Cap Ferrat, the Zoo Park offers both a collection of 300 animals and real events which are often organised in the centre of the park. In some parts of the Zoo, kids are allowed to play with domestic animals such as ducks and chickens; open all the year round.

  • Koalaland, Menton : Koalaland is an interesting address where kids can play in a safe environment; some attractions are the little train, the mini golf and the little go karts. Closed on Tuesday.

  • Marineland, Antibes : one of the most famous attractions for children on the French Riviera. Traditionally dedicated to dolphins and the “sea world”, in the last few years the park has enriched its offer with a typical farm of the far west, a mini golf field, a water park and corner dedicated to birds. Closed in January.
